A DISAPPONTING DERBY FOR MWRACING
“Well, it was what it was and what it was...was COLD! I couldn't wait to get
in the 102.7 WXBM Sonny's Bar-B-Q Sportsman car. It was nearly midnight
before we got to race. After qualifying faster than I ever have at
21.31, I started in 16th of a field of twenty-four. Last year I
qualified a full second slower and was 14th. It was a fast field this
time around."
"We were doing well, just riding around a fifty lap race when we got
tagged and turned around going into turn three. That left the left front
quarter panel open, another driver with nowhere to go got into me and
we broke a tire rod. Greg Janes slapped another on in the pits and we
came out two laps down. We were basically out of it so it was time to do
what we came to do, race the car."
"I did and was having a ball till I got into it with two other cars
going into turn one. A car had slowed up causing the two in front of me
to brake and I had nowhere to go but outside...near and then into the
wall. Just one of them racin' things. We were done. With nine laps to go
we called it a night and a year. We finished 19th in our 2nd Snowball
Derby. It was a good year for us though, finishing 5th in the points
battle. I learned a lot and can't wait until March, so we can fire that
baby up again."
"Thanks to Greg Janes and Shanna Ard...Shanna finished 3rd in our
race...great job!...and to John Johnson, Corey Pitman, Zac Wells, Ricky
Davidson, Dwayne Pitman and Artie for all the help in the pits. Man it
was cold!"
"Thanks to all our sponsors and to all you guys for the support. We'll
see you on the race track come springtime!" - For more info visit 5flagsspeedway.com
